Özlem Bulut
Özlem Bulut was born in 1982 in a small village in eastern Turkey.She
grew up with traditional Anatolian music. At 15 she began studying
Operatic singing in Mersin, later in Istanbul.In 2006 she received a
scholarhip to study in Vienna.During her stay in Vienna she had
engagements at the Vienna State Opera, the Opera Bastille in Paris and
the Vienna Volksoper, where she has been steadily engaged since 2008.
In 2008 Özlem Bulut founded, along with the Austro-Bulgarian composer
Roumen Dimitrov the ensmble “Bulut” (cloud), in which she combines elements of
oriental music, jazz, and music from other parts of the world. The
ensemble has now attained its completed form with Marco Annau as
composer and keyboarder.With this ensemble she won the Development and
Audience prizes at the Austrian World Music Contest in 2008. There
followed appearances at the Salam Orient Festival, Donauinsel
Festival, the ORF Radiokulturhaus,in the Viennese jazzclub “Porgy and
Bess”. The first Bulut Album “Bulut” will appear in 2010/2011.
